“Our very own Launch Federal Credit Union is open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during lunch and accounts can be started with as little as $30.  Account holders in the school are also eligible for several prize drawings throughout the year such as iPads, laptops, and gift cards. The school’s ATM has been relocated and is now fully functioning in the main office lobby.  Also, accounts can be open with Launch Federal Credit Union with as little as $5. They office is open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during lunch.  

If you are interested in attending a performance of the opera Carmen, please see Ms. Drysdale in 1A-211 for more details.

Lady Titans Soccer Team has their first district match today against New Smyrna Beach at 4 p.m. The game is at Bennett Park in Orange City.  Come out and support the ladies!!!

There will be a mandatory Criminal Justice meeting tomorrow (Wed 01/18) during the second half of lunch in Room 1B-208.  This meeting will cover elections, and upcoming events.

Titan Theatre presents their comedy, The Curious Savage Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 7pm in the Black Box. Tickets are $10 and reserved seating is limited, so stop by the Black Box Theatre to purchase your tickets. Come out and support your University Titans on stage!

Softball tryouts will take place next week right afterschool on the following days…. Monday 1/23 – will be infielder try outs, Tuesday 1/24 will be outfielder try outs, Wednesday 1/25 will be for pitchers and catchers, Thursday 1/26 will be the one make up day for anyone and Friday 1/27 will be a final scrimmage. Please bring all of your equipment and water to tryouts. You must also have all paper work turned in to Mrs Eggert BEFORE tryouts.

Juniors & Seniors it is that time of year again! The Excellence in Education Challenge is upon us. Win a laptop!!! Or at the end of the school year win a brand new car!!! Daytona Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM FIAT & Bright House Network have teamed up together to bring you the 11th Annual Excellence in Education incentive program. This incentive program is open to high school juniors & seniors, 16 years old or older by June, 2017.  This program recognizes good grades, good conduct, good attendance and school sponsored activities.  One laptop is given away to one student each quarter and at the end of the school year, one student from each high school is selected to possibly win a brand new car. Drawings for a laptop will be held at the end of each marking period. The drawing for the brand new car will be held in June.  To register to win students must bring their official school report card, a photo ID and the application to Daytona Dodge by the end of the business day on Monday, Jan. 23rd. You can pick up the application from the activities office 3-200.

The Boys Tennis Team will begin practice on Monday, January 23rd after school. The team is looking for players with or without playing experience. If you are interested please see Coach Roberts in the gym for any other questions.

A representative from South Georgia State College will be on campus Tuesday January 24th at 9:30. If you are interested please stop by the Guidance Office to sign up.

If you’re interested in traveling or dream of going to places such as Italy and Greece, Spain or Australia please plan to attend the Educational Tours Europe trip informational meeting.  Receive details on this year’s trip, and the following trips, on Tuesday January 24th at 6pm in the Lecture Hall.

Titans, if you are a member of a UHS Club, Club photo day will be Friday, Feb. 3rd. Your club sponsor should let you  know what period you are to report to the auditorium to take your club photo. Senior panoramic will be Friday, Feb. 3rd during 7th period. Seniors will be called to report to the gym via the PA system. Further information to follow in the coming days.

2017 Grad Bash will be held at Universal Studios on Friday, April 28th. Fifth Harmony will be the guest performer at this year’s Grad Bash. Tickets are $90.Tickets are currently on sale in the student activity office. You must be a graduating senior, have a current student ID and have no outstanding obligations to purchase a Grad Bash Ticket. The last day to purchase a grad bash ticket will be March 3rd.

The Daytona Beach Half Marathon is in need of volunteers! Volunteer are needed are between  1 and 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, and between 5:30 a.m. and noon Sunday, Feb. 5. The 2017 race takes place on Feb. 5, and volunteer positions range from course marshals to packet pickup to manning a water station. As a thank you for your time, all volunteers will receive breakfast at the event, as well as a free entry to the Marine Science Center. Check out the Volunteer bulletin board or call Kate Sark at 386-822-5062 ext. 12246 for more information.

University High School students are the 1st and 2nd place winners in the Dr. Martin Luther King Essay/Video Contest. Our theme this year is "Unity Is Our Strength". The winners are:

1st Place  $100 Tim Reahl, his winning video will be shown at the breakfast

2nd Place $75  Kristina Andrew

Science Olympiad will meet today after school in preparation for the region competition.  Team members should plan to attend to prepare for their events.

The first official meeting for NOW Club will be Friday, Jan. 13th  during lunch! NOW is a club dedicated to advocating for gender equality and women's issues. If you're passionate about empowering women, NOW is the place for you! This Friday in Room 4-213 during the 2nd half of lunch. 

Dual-enrolled students if you have turned in your Spring schedule to the textbook room, your books are ready for pick up.  If you have not turned-in your Spring schedule yet please do so as soon as possible to ensure you get your textbooks on time before the January 17th start date.  If you have any questions contact Mrs. Merk in the Titan Textbook Room.

The Envirothon Team is looking for new members. Learn about Environmental Science topics that are definitely relevant and important! Then show off your knowledge in an annual competition that pits student teams from across the district against one another. UHS won in 2015, took 2nd in 2016 and we're looking for your help to take back the championship. An interest meeting will be held during the first half of lunch Tuesday January 10th in Mr. Haught's room 1C-309.

There will be a boys weightlifting informational meeting during the first half of lunch tomorrow (Wednesday Jan 11th) in the Gym. See Coach Collins for more information.
