Congratulations to the boys golf team for earning District runners up in the 18 hole tournament yesterday and breaking their own team record by 17 shots. A special recognition to Freshman Bryce Werblo who was the overall individual District Champion by recording an even par 72.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office Explorer meeting will on Tuesday October 17 at 6:30 pm at the Sheriff’s Office DeBary Substation. The program is open to anyone age 14-20 with good grades and strong moral character. If you have any questions stop in and see Deputy Worledge in the discipline office.

Academy of Finance is hosting cookies with the CEO in the LAUNCH Federal Credit Union school branch on Friday, October 20th during lunch. Please stop by the school branch and receive free cookies and LAUNCH prizes. You do not need to have an account to attend. This event is open to all students.

Just a reminder…Seniors you have until Friday, Oct. 20th to take your senior picture with Hansen Fine Portraits to be in the yearbook. Hansen Fine portraits will be on campus Oct. 19th & 20 for seniors and for students that missed their photo day last week. FSA ELA Reading retakes will be available Tuesday& Thursday for students who already took the writing portion …. This is the LAST chance this administration to meet that graduation requirement.  It is a 2 day test and will begin at 7:30 in room 1B-208.  Again, reading will be Tuesday & Thursday only.

First time sophomores will take the PSAT tomorrow.  The test will be administered beginning at 7:29 on October 11th – there are NO make-up days. Students may bring their own scientific or graphing calculator, or we have 4 function calculators available for use.  Also, bring a #2 pencil.

Congratulations to our Lady Titans Golf Team that played the 5-Star Conference Championship yesterday and won 1st place.  This is the first 5-Star win for our girls golf team with 3 players making All Conference Team 1.  Great job ladies!  Today the girls play their final home match and host districts next Tuesday.

Congratulations to the boys golf team for earning 2nd place in the 5 star golf tournament yesterday. The Titans were led by Juniors Ethan Werblo, Grant Russell, Joey Michaud, and Josh Munsey.

The UHS Robotics Team placed 2nd in Finals out of 31 teams at Roboticon being held at the University of South Florida this Saturday and Sunday.  Seniors Nathan Rose as driver and Mackenzie Cunningham as operator were instrumental in the teams success, Ashley Wajdyk, Nadiel Perez, and Ben Heckert made up the rest of UHS’s successful team representing Volusia Counties Team S*M*A*S*H (2152). 

Titan Theatre presents their annual Student One Acts this Wednesday through Friday at 7pm in the auditorium.  Just $5 for four one acts each evening… Comedy, Tragedy,  Evil Coyotes.  Come out and join the fun this Wednesday through Friday!

Girls interested in weightlifting need to see Coach Eggert for information.  Practice will begin Wed 10/11 at 3:15pm in weight room.

There will be a Model United Nations interest meeting this Thursday during lunch office hours in room 1C-105B.   The club competes with other Volusia County High Schools once a month.   Students become United Nations members and use presentation, debate, negotiation, and coalition building skills.

Due to logistics and transportation, Hurricane Maria’s collection will go through tomorrow Thursday., instead of Friday. Late donations will be accepted til 12pm tomorrow.  Ms. Marte and the ESOL department thank you on behalf of the families in Puerto Rico receiving these donations of love.

Yesterday the girls golf team beat New Smyrna with a low team score of 177 against 209 New Smyrna.  The team record is now 17 and 1.  Kenna Kelting with a 40, Jordan McKendrick with a 42 and Coral Estes with a 45.  Nice job girls. 

Congratulations Titan Swimmers for their win over Mainland and 2nd place to New Smyrna with first place wins by Kaylee-Jo Hollifield in the 50 freestyle, James Partlow in the 50 and 100 freestyle, and Devon Neumeyer in the 100 breast.

Congratulations to the Girls Golf team with a win last Monday against Flagler Palm Coast and a Tri-Match win Thursday against Flagler Palm Coast and New Smyrna High School. Great scores from all players who played yesterday.  Kenna Kelting with a 42, Coral Estes with a 45, Maddie Leake with a 46, and Jordan McKendrick with a 46.  The girls team with the best record in UHS history with 15 wins and 1 loss with only a few matches left before districts.  Way to go Lady Titans!

Congratulations to both the Boy and Girl Titan Swimmers for their dual win over Atlantic High School.  With First place victories by Kim Grinnen, Jaylen Parrish, Cheney Scott, and Julia Annunziato in the Girls 200 Free Relay, Jaylen Parrish In the 200 Freestyle, Kaylee Jo Hollifield in the 50 Freestyle, Alexia Lemus in the 100 Freestyle, Sydney Focarino, Alexia Lemus, Eny Zuniga, Cheney Scott 200 Free Relay,  Kim Grinnen for 100 Backstroke, Jaylen Parrish 100 Breaststroke, Julia Annunziato, Chloe Morgan, Cheney Scott, and Jaylen Parish in the 400 Free Relay, James Partlow for the 50 Freestyle, Craig Sava, Martin Kouadjo, Gavin Arnold, Steven Acevedo for the 200 Free Relay, and David Leonard for 100 Backstroke.

Titans plan to join us this evening at our annual homecoming powder puff game at 7pm on our UHS Field. Entrance is $3.  Come out and cheer on your class’s powder puff team!!!

FSA  Alg 1, Geometry, Biology, & U.S. History EOCs are this week. Blue testing for Algebra 1 EOC is taking place today. For ELA, hold on to your green sheet for reading dates.   Please see Mrs. Fraine in the media center if you have any questions.  Again, FSA retakes start THIS WEEK and there are practice tests on the FSA portal.

ESOL is collecting donations of food, water, clothing, diapers, baby clothes and food, clothes of all sizes, for victims of the hurricanes in Puerto Rico?  Donations can be brought to room 1A-206B, to Ms. Marte.  She’s already secured transportation of these items to the victims

UHS is offering an SAT Prep class.  The class is 8 weeks long and will meet Saturdays from 9am to 12pm.  The class is $15 which covers the cost of the book.  If interested please sign up with either Ms. Drysdale (4-306) or Ms. Dela Cruz before Friday.

Counselors will be starting senior conferences this week.  During this conference, counselors will be reviewing credits required for graduation, post-secondary plans, and financial aid and scholarship opportunities.  If parents would like to be a part of this conference with their senior, please contact the guidance office at extension 46219 to make an appointment.

For your preparation and for your convenience there are practice tests on the FSA portal.

TITAN 411 Sept. 7, 2017

A huge win for our Lady Titan’s Golf Team that played the 9 Hole Shoot Out Tournament against 8 other high school teams yesterday.  The first time in school history the team won the entire tournament with great play from all players.  Scores were Kenna Kelting 41, Jordan McKendrick 43, Coral Estes 46 and Maddie Leake 54.  Two players, Kenna & Jordan made top 5 and the closest team was still 9 strokes away from our 183 total score.  Congratulations Lady Titans.”

Varsity Football will play at Lake Gibson High School today at 730pm at Lake Gibson High School.

Varsity Bowling has a home match against Spruce Creek today at 345pm. 

The JV Football Game for today against Mainland is postponed, and will be rescheduled.

Volleyball games for this evening have been cancelled.

Saturday Drivers Education will not happen this Saturday due to the storm. The date will be made up at the end of the term.
