TITAN 411 APRIL 19th, 2017

The First Flight competition, presented by the DeLand Chapter of Kiwanis International, will take place on Saturday, April 15, at 9 am. The event will be held at the Commemorative Air Force Hangar, 1570 Old Daytona Beach Road, DeLand, FL. The First Flight Competition will feature four different events: Paper Airplane Event, Original Flight Event, Middle School Science Olympiad Event Wright Stuff and High School Helicopters. The Paper Airplane Event and the Original Flight Event features three categories: 3-5 (elementary), 6-8 (middle), and 9-12 (high). THE TITANS WON THEIR 7TH GAME IN A ROW YESTERDAY BY BEATING VIERRA 6 TO 0.  LOGAN ALLEN GOT THE WIN AND HIT A GRAND SLAM IN THE 4TH INNING!  And  JACKSON ROBERTS HIT A TWO RUN HOME RUN!   SENIORS WILL BE RECOGNIZED TODAY AT THE 4:30 GAME.   LOVE TO SEE OUR FANS MAKE IT TO DELTONA HIGH FRIDAY NIGHT WHEN THE TITANS TAKE ON THE WOLVES AT 7:00.

Titan Athletes: Free athletic physicals will be offered on Thursday, April 27th starting at 3pm in our gym lobby.

Attention Juniors: Front office student aide applications  are now available for pick up in front office and the guidance office. If you are interested in working our front desk over summer and all of the 2017-2018 school year please complete an application, attach a resume and resume and turn it into Mrs. LaBarre’s office 1B-100G or the front office desk no later than Monday, April 24th.

Key Club will meet during the first half of lunch in 1C-211 today.

Seniors: if you live in the city of Debary and have been accepted to a University or if you are planning to attend DSC in the fall and have at least a 3.0 GPA – see Mrs. Marracino by April 21st for a scholarship opportunity.

Attention seniors:  the Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranch is currently hiring Summer Counselors.  Pay plus room and board will be provided. If interested email Daniel Phillips at [email protected] or call Mr. Phillips at 386-668-9577 before April 29th.  A Flyer with this information is located in the guidance office.

Any senior still interested in attending this year’s grad bash event at universal studios on April 28th. We have a few ticket available…stop in and see Mrs. Pearsall as soon as possible

Bethune-Cookman University is now accepting applications for the dual enrollment program!  If you are in grades 9-12 and meet the entry requirements, you have the opportunity to earn credits toward a college degree at NO COST to you!  Classes are being offered on the main campus in Daytona Beach and on the BCU Deltona campus located on Saxon Blvd. Applications will be accepted through August 9th for the Fall 2017 semester.  Interested students must have a 3.0 unweighted G.P.A. and qualifying test scores.  Contact your school counselor to schedule  the PERT test.  Don’t delay…Classes begin August 14, 2017. University Color Guard Auditions will be held on May 4th & 5th from 3:30-8pm in the UHS Band room 2E-117. Color guard is a year long class and counts as a PE Credit.

Any student interested in earning community service hours by volunteering at the City of Debary Summer Camp. Stop into the guidance office for more information. The deadline to apply is April 28th.

Debary Elementary is in need of student volunteers for their One Book One School Medieval Fair on May 11th from 5:30-8pm at Debary Elementary. If interested please contact Mrs. Donlevy at 386-575-4230 ext:42196.

The Florida Elks Youth Camp is now hiring Summer Camp Counselors.  You must be at least 16 years old.  The camp is from June 4th until July 29th.  Go to www.feyc.org to apply.

UHS 2017 Prom will be held on Saturday, April 22nd at the Daytona Beach Hilton from 7-11pm Tickets are currently still on sale  in room 3-200, or online by visiting our school website. Tickets are $85, and are on sale to juniors & seniors with a current student ID and no outstanding obligations. The last day to purchase online or an out of school date ticket will be TODAY! Students attending prom please be advised of the following:

  • Adequate formal dress attire is a MUST
  • You must arrive and be in the prom by 8pm
  • You must have your current student ID and your ticket to be admitted into prom, your out of school dat must have their photo ID and ticket to be admitted into prom.
  • This year’s prom will showcase a buffet with finger foods, it is not a sit down full meal.
  • Once you leave prom you may not reenter. If you have any questions please stop in and see Mrs. Pearsall in room 3-200.

UHS Faculty & Staff if you are in need of a gift bag please stop into our faculty mail room and support our Multi VE department students by purchasing a handmade decorated gift bag…they will be selling these handmade giftbags through the month of April.

 Host families are needed for an international exchange student for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year.  The student will be between the ages of 15-18 and will stay with each host family for 3-5 months.  The host family provides meals, a bed, as well as friendship, understanding and genuine interest to share our American way of life.  The students speak English; have insurance and their own spending money.  For more information about hosting a Rotary Youth Exchange student, see Mrs. Marracino

The Titan baseball team continued it's win streak with a victory over Lyman Friday by the score of 5 to 0.   Cameron Robinson pitched for the win and had two hit as did Jake Molle.  The Titans clinched the regular season District Title and #1 seed.  The team is now 15 and 5 will be in action Tuesday and Wednesday.  Go Titans
